Chicken shandong

Ingredients

Chicken -1/2 kg medium sized pieces(in the original recipe they use only the chicken legs)
Minced Ginger-1 1/2tbsp
Minced Garlic-1 1/2 tbsp
Spring onion-1 tbsp( for garnish)
Minced Onion-1
Chilly Paste-1tbsp
Tomato Ketchup-2 tbsp
Soya sauce-1tbsp
Red food colour-pinch (opt)
Salt- to taste
Celery-1tbsp
Sugar-1 tsp
Capsicum-1/2 for garnishing
cornflour-1tsp
Oil- for frying
Water-1/2cup

For the batter

All purpose flour-2tbsp
Corn flour-2tbsp
Pepper powder-1tsp
Salt-to taste
Vinegar -1tsp 

Method

  

Wash the chicken pieces and marinate with corn flour,maida,salt ,pepper powder and little  water .

Keep aside for 1 hour .

Heat 1tbsp of oil in a pan .

Add ginger and garlic and saute for few seconds .

Add onion and celery to this and saute well.

Saute until the raw smell leaves..Now reduce the heat ,add red chilly paste ,tomato ketchup and  soya sauce .

Saute for few seconds .

Then add sugar ,salt, and vinegar.

Mix well .

Then add water and boil well.

Check the sauce .

Add sauces according if anything lacking .

Keep this sauce aside and deep fry the chicken pieces .

Add the fried chicken to the sauce and cook well for 5 minutes in medium flame .

Then add corn flour mix(add 1tsp of cornflour in 1/4 water and mix) little by little until u get the correct consistency.

Cook till the chicken pieces are well coated with the sauce .

U can add or decrease the spice .

Finally garnish with spring onion and capsicum ..
